Yesterday, we could only watch 2 sports. Rugby Sevens and Soccer. Today, Handball and Archery join us.
Yesterday’s edition was a bit too long so today we're going to make it a bit shorter. Before that though, here's a poll.
Let's begin.
Handball
Group A:
Slovenia vs Denmark:
The goal efficiency from Denmark in this game was quite remarkable as they were basically good at making any shot they were tasked of. They’re efficiency percentage was 60%. Slovenia just made too many errors and that's the main reason they lost this one.
Final Score: Denmark 27 - Slovenia 19
Korea vs Germany:
This was an incredibly close one the whole game and it all depended on that one extra goal that Korea scored at halftime. It probably wouldn't have been SUPER close if Korea had not tried so many 9-meter shots.
Final Score: Korea 23 - Germany 22
Norway vs Sweden:
Norway could’ve won this one if they hadn’t run out of energy in the second half prompting the Swedish to take over and win the game, even though the Norwegians had the lead.
FINAL SCORE: Norway 28 - Sweden 32
Group B
Netherlands vs Angola
After an incredibly close first half, even if the second half was close, the Netherlands were able to pull away in the second half and win the game. Angola shouldn't have attempted many 9-meter shots and waste opportunities to get points and win the game.
Final Score: Netherlands 34 - Angola 31
Brazil vs Spain
It was a 5-point lead for Brazil after the first half, and Spain just couldn't come back in the second half where Brazil scored 6 more points than them. Brazil won by a lot.
Final Score: Brazil 29 - Spain 18
France vs Hungary:
The first half was close, but the 3 points the French led by decided it against Hungary as the second half was even 16-16.
Final Score: France 31 - Hungary 28
Rugby Sevens
Placing 9-12
Samoa vs Japan:
Samoa absolutely demolished Japan in a game that actually started pretty close. Japan, who are ranked last, was shown by the firstly qualified Samoa why they're not good at rugby.
Final Score: Samoa 42 - Japan 7
Kenya vs Uruguay:
This was a very interesting game that went to extra time. Only one could prevail and that was Kenya who scored the try in extra time first to win the game.
FINAL SCORE: Kenya 19 - Uruguay 14
Quarterfinals:
New Zealand vs South Africa:
These two countries are some of the best at rugby and while they didn’t give us their best performance, it was certainly a great game that resulted in a South Africa win. No team scored after the first half.
FINAL SCORE: New Zealand 7 - South Africa 14
Argentina vs France:
The host nation France is really doing good in every single sport. After the first half, the French were up 21-0. Even though they converted another try in the second half, the Argentinians couldn’t catch up.
FINAL SCORE: Argentina 14 - France 26
Australia vs United States of America
The fact that the US made it here even though no one plays rugby there is pretty awesome. That probably mattered because the US couldn’t notch a single point against Australia.
FINAL SCORE: Australia 18 - US 0
Fiji vs Ireland
The defending champs finally caught up with someone as Ireland threatened to win this game, taking an early lead in the first half. Fiji showed everyone who they are though, by coming back and winning it.
