Welcome to the Sports Equinox: The One Day Every League Plays
NFL. NBA. MLB. NHL. All on the same night — and it’s happening today.
Sports fans, mark your calendars — this is the one day we dream about.
There’s one day every year when the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB are all active. This day happens to fall today, October 27th.
Here’s exactly what the Sports Equinox is.
The Sports Equinox is the rare day of the year when all four major U.S. professional sports leagues, the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL, have games on the same day. It usually happens in late October, when the NFL season is underway, the NBA and NHL have just started, and MLB is in the thick of the World Series. It’s a dream day for sports fans, offering a nonstop lineup of action across every major sport, football, basketball, baseball, and hockey, all in a single 24-hour span.
Let’s look at all the games today, and where you can watch them.
NFL:
Commanders vs. Chiefs — 8:15 p.m. (ESPN/ABC) MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
NBA:
Cleveland vs. Detroit — 7 p.m. (Peacock)
Orlando vs. Philadelphia — 7 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Atlanta vs. Chicago — 8 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Brooklyn vs. Houston — 8 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Boston vs. New Orleans — 8 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Toronto vs. San Antonio — 8 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Oklahoma City vs. Dallas — 8:30 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Phoenix vs. Utah — 9 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Denver vs. Minnesota — 9:30 p.m. (Peacock)
Memphis vs. Golden State — 10 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
Portland vs. Los Angeles Lakers — 10:30 p.m. (NBA League Pass)
MLB:
Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Game 3 — 8 p.m. ET (Fox, Fox Deportes) WORLD SERIES
NHL:
St. Louis vs. Pittsburgh — 7 p.m. (NHL Network)
Boston vs. Ottawa — 7:30 p.m. (local RSNs, ESPN App)
While the Sports Equinox only considers these 4 leagues, the MLS is also on.
MLS:
FC Cincinnati vs Columbus Crew — 6:45 PM (FS1, Fox Deportes, Apple TV+)
Minnesota United FC vs Seattle Sounders FC — 9:00 PM (FS1, Fox Deportes, Apple TV+)
The first sports equinox occurred on October 17, 1971, when the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB all had games scheduled on the same day. On that specific date, there was one World Series Game 7, 12 NFL games, three NBA games, and six NHL games.
Now, how are you gonna watch all of these games?
Okay, so let’s just say you have 3 screens. I’m not going to be considering the MLS here, because that doesn’t really come under the Sports Equinox.
From 7-8 PM
We need Cleveland vs Detroit, Orlando vs Philadelphia, and St. Louis vs. Pittsburgh.
From 8-9 PM
We need Dodgers vs Blue Jays, Commanders vs Chiefs, and then change between all the NBA games that begin during the 8:00 hour.
From 9-10 PM
Keep the Dodgers vs Blue Jays and Commanders vs Chiefs, but now change between the Bruins game in the NHL and the 9:00 starts in the NBA.
From 10-11 PM:
Keep the Dodgers vs Blue Jays and Commanders vs Chiefs, but now change between both 10:00 starts in the NBA. 30 mins for each NBA game.
From 11-11:15 PM:
Keep the Dodgers vs Blue Jays and Commanders vs Chiefs, and put the Lakers game on the other TV.
From 11:15 PM to 12:30 AM
Grizzlies vs Warriors on one TV. Trail Blazers vs Lakers on the other one. Finally, the Dodgers vs Blue Jays FOX postgame show on the final one.
The Sports Equinox doesn’t end until the final whistle, in this case. If you’re in it to watch every single game and have every single subscription and 3 TVs set up, this is the plan that will let you watch every single game.
Four leagues. One night. Endless chaos.
Welcome to the Sports Equinox.
What are you watching? Put it down in the comments!

You forgot the part where the Jays and Dodgers go to the 18th. Crazy game.
So Sports Equinox didn’t end until 3am EST due to the crazy Dodgers/Blue Jays game? If so, that has to be the craziest Sports Equinox ever.
