Intro
Short Segment. Read… Now… The team we will be reviewing is the Baltimore Orioles.
Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles are young. In 2021, they had 52 wins and 110 losses. That’s crazy. Did anyone ever think, in 2 more years, they would win their division and get to the ALDS? No! In fact, I expected the Rays to win their division ever since their historic start. But they didn’t. It was the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately, they were part of the 100-win curse, which eliminated all the 100-win teams. Oof.
They have a lot of salary space, so we all might think that they could sign the highest-named free agents, but they actually can’t. They are a low payroll team. Not as low as John Fisher and the Athletics, but pretty low. You could still expect them to sign some people, though.
They’ve been linked to their division rival’s pitcher, Tyler Glasnow. Also with Dylan Cease. They also already signed LHP Tucker Davidson to a one-year deal. They should mainly focus on pitching this offseason. It was mainly why they got eliminated in the ALDS. Why do I say this? Adley Rutschman got a Silver Slugger award as A CATCHER! He is definitely the Orioles future. Who do I think the Orioles should sign?
E-Rod (Eduardo Rodriguez)
This is the perfect fit. He could’ve been traded to the Dodgers during the 2023 season, but he blocked it. Why? Geography. Now he says he doesn’t care about that fact, but really? The Orioles are way closer to Detroit than Los Angeles, and I don’t think he’ll require a very very high price.
Marcus Stroman
Another perfect fit. The Orioles cemented themselves as a perfect playoff team. Cody Bellinger started something big in Chicago, but if he signs elsewhere (which he might be), then the Cubs have a pretty big chance of not making it.
Conclusion
The Orioles did a very good job building this team from 52 wins to double that in 2023. The Orioles will certainly continue building a big dynasty in the coming years. It’ll be fun to see what all of their star players do. I leave it to the GM and the President of Baseball Operations for the Orioles to decide what to do with their cash.
