Intro:
If I had told you, at the start of the MLB season, that the Diamondbacks were going to LOSE in the World Series, would you believe me? Would you even believe that the Diamondbacks were going to be in the World Series? Look, the Rangers won. Not something you would expect, but something that could’ve definitely happened. More on that and a recap!
Rangers Win First World Series in Franchise History! || Reliever and Manager make RECORDS!
The Texas Rangers have won their first-ever World Series after defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 of the Fall Classic on Wednesday to earn a 4-1 series victory. It was a pretty crazy game that had one REALLY BIG costly ERROR!
Both teams were held scoreless through six innings, with Texas going without a hit during that span against D-backs starter Zac Gallen. Nathan Eovaldi bent but never broke as he routinely got out of tough jams to throw six shutout innings and ultimately earn the win.
However, Texas got on the board in the seventh after Rangers designated hitter Mitch Garver's RBI single scored Corey Seager. Texas held onto that 1-0 lead into the ninth before breaking it open with four runs. Jonah Heim's single to center field scored two after the ball got by outfielder Alek Thomas on an error. Marcus Semien later drove Heim home with a game-sealing two-run homer.
Josh Sborz shut the door in the ninth, and with that, the Rangers GOT their first World Series trophy since entering Major League Baseball as the Washington Senators in 1961.
The Rangers are on top of the baseball world now after a playoff run that included sweeps of the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles, a hard-fought seven-game ALCS win over the Houston Astros, and an emphatic World Series victory over the upstart Diamondbacks in five. Fans are calling them a "team of destiny" following what, I think, is one of the greatest postseasons ever.
Also, they went 11-0 the whole postseason on the road. (ROAD WARRIORS!) Also, Marcus Semien played in ALL 179 GAMES THIS SEASON!
(HISTORY)
Will Smith (The Reliever) has won a world series 3 STRAIGHT TIMES! Braves, Astros, and now the RANGERS!
Bruce Bochy (The Manager) has won 4 World Series. His first with the Rangers.
Both of these guys are serious good-luck charms.

Thursday Night Football Picks
We’re back with TNF Picks, but we’re going to do it differently (maybe just for this week, I don't know when I’ll change). We’re going to analyze the spread and then explain why each team could cover. Ready? Let’s begin.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will try to continue their recent domination over the Tennessee Titans when they meet in a key AFC matchup on Thursday Night Football. The Steelers (4-3), who are tied for second in the AFC North standings, have won two of their past three games. The Titans (3-4), who are tied for second in the AFC South standings, have dropped two of three. Tennessee, however, is coming off a 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons, while Pittsburgh was beaten 20-10 by Jacksonville. The Steelers lost quarterback Kenny Pickett to a rib injury, and he will be a game-time decision on TNF, per head coach Mike Tomlin.
Steelers vs. Titans spread: Pittsburgh -2.5… I say +2.5.
Steelers vs. Titans over/under: 36.5 points…. I say over.
Steelers vs. Titans money line: Pittsburgh -153, Tennessee +129…. I say…..+129
TEN: Titans are 4-3 against the spread in their last seven games
PIT: Steelers are 4-3 ATS this season, including 2-2 at home
Why the Steelers can cover
Pickett leads Pittsburgh's passing attack this season. The 2022 first-round draft pick from Pittsburgh has played in seven games, completing 122 of 200 passes (61%) for 1,330 yards and five touchdowns. He has been intercepted four times and has a rating of 80.6. If he can't go, the Steelers have a capable backup in former Chicago Bears starter Mitch Trubisky. In two games this season, Trubisky has completed 18 of 32 passes (56.3%) for 156 yards and one touchdown, with two picks.
Third-year veteran Najee Harris leads the Pittsburgh ground attack. The 25-year-old has played in all seven games, carrying 84 times for 313 yards (3.7 average) and one touchdown. He also has 13 receptions for 94 yards (7.2 average). In 41 career games, Harris has carried 663 times for 2,547 yards (3.8 average) and 15 touchdowns, including seven TDs in each of his first two years. He has also converted 123 first downs rushing, and 41 receiving.
Why the Titans can cover
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was not a participant in Monday's practice and could miss this game with an ankle injury. In his place would be rookie Will Levis, who helped lead the Titans past the Falcons, completing 19 of 29 passes (65.5%) for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Levis, who began his collegiate career at Penn State, played at Kentucky for his final two seasons. In 2022, he led the Wildcats by completing 185 of 283 passes (65.4%) for 2,406 yards and 19 touchdowns with 10 picks.
Running back Derrick Henry continues to carry the load in the running game. In seven games, he has carried 120 times for 526 yards (4.4 average) and three touchdowns, including three explosive plays of 20 yards or more, with a long of 63 yards. Henry also has 15 receptions for 138 yards (9.2 average). He is coming off a 22-carry, 101-yard effort against Atlanta on Sunday.
Personally, I think that the Titans are going to win this one. You don’t have a completely healthy QB, so you better watch out. The one place where the Steelers got lucky is the Tennessee defense, (which isn’t exactly good… to me, I guess). This is why I say the Titans win this one. It’ll be close, but a win for the Titans.
Conclusion
Well, there’s your recap for the day. We will not be having a newsletter tomorrow, so have a good day! There will be a must-watch for the weekend list published tomorrow!
