The NFL Script Just Went Off the Rails: Mahomes vs Lamar, QB Chaos, and an International First
From Dublin to Dallas, this week’s NFL action is loaded with international history, QB controversies, and a blockbuster Chiefs–Ravens clash. Editi
Lamar Jackson facing Patrick Mahomes.
Micah Parsons returning to Dallas.
The only team that can dethrone the Eagles?
We’re already a month into the NFL season, and this week’s script is full of drama.
Early Window:
International football begins tomorrow, and the first-ever NFL game played in Ireland will feature Carson Wentz and the Vikings playing Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. Andrew Van Ginkel is out, and so is JJ McCarthy. The Steelers fandom out in Ireland is why the script has the Steelers winning this one.
Onto the early window, now, where we once again see the Eagles take on the Buccaneers. In their last 10 games against the Bucs (including the playoffs), the Eagles are 4-6, with their 4 wins coming in 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2023. Stopping the blitz is going to be key for the Eagles.
I’m really worried about the Panthers and Texans right now. The big question for them is whether they are going to extend their QBs contracts. CJ Stroud is doing horribly, and Bryce Young isn’t what he was supposed to be. Stroud and Young are eligible for an extension this offseason, but with how badly both of these two are performing, I think they shouldn’t give them an extension this offseason. They should just run out the rookie contract, and then pay them them the market price. Yes, it’s going to increase, but it’s better than giving money to a QB you’re not sure about.
Joe Flacco and the Browns should be 2-1. They should not be getting this hate. The Browns aren’t real contenders, but if Flacco wants to keep his job, he’s going to need to win this game.
Script Shocker:
The script has the Giants shocking the Chargers.
Jaxson Dart makes his first start, and finally, Malik Nabers gets a QB who can feed him. The Chargers are the better team on paper, but this is a hungry Dart ready to take the spotlight.
Don’t flame me. Flame the script.
Game of the Day
Ravens vs. Chiefs.
Yes, the Micah Parsons homecoming is a great story. But Dallas isn’t good enough to steal this section.
Both Baltimore and Kansas City enter 1-2.
The Chiefs lost to the Chargers and Eagles before finally winning last week.
The Ravens fell to the Bills and Lions, two winning squads.
Kansas City gets rookie WR Xavier Worthy back. Baltimore loses DT Justin Madubuike to IR. Derrick Henry? He’s been coughing up the ball too often. And KC’s run defense, 196 yards on 47 carries allowed, should be just strong enough to keep him contained.
Oh, and the Ravens are 1-4 in their last 5 against Mahomes.
Dackers Time || SNF:
Parsons vs. Dallas. The headline writes itself.
The trade left such a bad taste in Jerry’s mouth (even though he’s the one who caused it all) that he said that he wasn’t going to show a tribute video for him. That’s just going to fire up Micah even more.
Ceedee Lamb is not playing, and the Packers might not have an offensive lineman against the Cowboys. Getting to the quarterback is key if the Cowboys want to win.
The storylines are perfect. This is going to be a cinema.
MOOONDAAYYYYY NIGHT:
Looking to Monday, now, and we have the Jets playing the Dolphins at 7:15 EST. If the Jets don’t win this game, this team is cursed, no matter which way you look at it. Justin Fields is out of concussion protocol and is coming back for the game. The Tua and Mike McDaniel era in Miami is over after this year.
Then we have the Bengals and the Broncos. If Joe Burrow was playing, this would’ve been another highlight of the season. However, it’s Jake Browning who’s fielding the position as QB. Browning has been horrible so far, but somehow the Bengals are 2-1 on the year. The goal is get the ball to Ja’Marr Chase and pray that Chase Brown has. a big game. Brown should be a key part of this offense, if the Bengals want a shot at the playoffs.
