Icee:
The two best teams in the NL square off in a 3-game series in Philadelphia as the Dodgers and the Phillies clash to see who is truly the best team in the NL. Let’s look into the series.
The Dodgers come off a series W over the Brewers, who are currently the best in the NL Central. In Game 1, Will Smith was a highlight, hitting 3 balls to the seats as the Dodgers got an 8-5 win. Glasnow allowed 3 hits in 6 IP and collected 7 strikeouts, which is a gem. The Dodgers took the series in Game 2 when HRs from Ohtani, Smith, and Vargas combined for 4 runs. The last game was a game to forget, however as they lost 9-2.
The Phillies come off the other side of winning a series, losing a series. They lost a 3-game series to Atlanta. They only won the first game of the series when Trea Turner hit 2 to the seats. Nola struck out 8 in 6 IP. The rest of the series in Philly was a struggle when they couldn’t get runs against Spencer Schwellenbach (yeah, that’s his name), who trimmed the Phils to only a run. 6 Ks in 6 IP was his final stat line for game 2 of the series. Atlanta took the series decider in a combined shutout starring pitchers Reynoldo Lopez, Dylan Lee, Pierce Johnson, and Aaron Bummer. All pitchers combined for 9 Ks and 5 allowed hits, which was a solid pitching performance for the Braves against the NL-best Phillies.
The Braves series will affect the Phillies a lot, and the Dodgers beat the NL Central-leading Brewers in a series so, it will be tough for Philadelphia as they face the Dodgers. With this in mind for my series projection, I’ll have the Dodgers winning this series.
Smayan:
Both the Phillies and the Dodgers are very good teams. This is the clash of titans.
Both the Phils and the Dodgers have a 5-5 record in their last 10 games, hence you can’t just say who you think is going to win. But, out of those 10 games, the Dodgers played teams like the Giants (lose series), Diamondbacks (lose series), and Brewers (win series), and the Phillies played teams like the Marlins (2-2 split), Cubs (win series), and Braves (lose series).
The loss of Harper and Schwarber may impact the outcome of this series. I have the Dodgers going 2-1 against the ultimate Phillies.
Game 1: 6:40 P.M. EST in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
