Like Mike
When I say Like Mike, what do you think I mean? What does the phrase mean? Let’s make this almost like an investigation question and move on through the chapter.
Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time and has built one of the best brands ever. How? We'll explore this further, but to put it simply, he rose to become the top basketball player and gained fame, allowing him to capitalize on his success.
I did this. When I searched up whom the most influential person in NBA history is, literally anywhere and everywhere, I got the same answer. Michael Jordan. Kids want to be like him. Sure, nowadays, it’s LeBron James. Stephen Curry. Heck, even Larry Bird is still in the conversation. But, trying to be “like Mike” will never die.
Like Mike itself is a movie. Yes, that’s how I got the name for this chapter. We’ll get into what the name really means in just a minute.
We talked about Taylor Swift building a brand during Chapter 1. I’m going to call this the Swifess (Swift and process put together… Anyone?) To put it in very simple terms, the number of followers she amassed, then dating Kelce, and then bringing the NFL some moolah (to the time I write this, the process is repeating). But, what about Jordan?
Let’s put it this way. He “built” a product?
