MLB: How are the Oakland Athletics actually winning?
INTRO:
I’m no A’s fan.
But, this move… It’s breaking my heart.
The A’s have produced players like Rickey Henderson, Reggie Jackson, Mark McGwire, José Canseco, Catfish Hunter, Jason Giambi, Sal Bando, Vida Blue, and Dennis Eckersley. These are only 9 of the best this franchise has produced IN OAKLAND.
Who’s the cause of all of this?
John Fisher. The man who fishes himself into holes.
No A’s fans. I’m sorry, but today is not the day I’m going to explain 50 reasons why John Fisher is a *BEEP*, but moreover this is a tribute. A tribute to Oakland. A tribute to the Athletics. A tribute to A’s fans. Then, I’m going to look into the Las Vegas plan… Can it really work? Will/Can Sacramento provide the market? Vivek Ranadive certainly thinks so.
Even if you think this is old news, read. I’m about to give you even more depth into a story that still has so many details left to give you.
Alright. Let’s get it people.
Athletics
Alright. First things first you have to know that Oakland is definitely not getting the Athletics back. Just yesterday, the Oakland Athletics have trademarked the name Athletics.
But here’s the thing. The Sacramento A’s don’t even have to use Athletics or A’s. It just prevents cities (mainly Oakland) from using the team name Athletics.
That’s just wrong. That’s just toxic. But, that’s how John Fisher plays this game. He wants to make sure that he gets money and the city of Las Vegas provides that. Very well.
To paraphrase what Mitchell Goldman of the San Francisco Chronicle said, Fisher hopes the A’s will have a full roster of Major League players when they arrive in Las Vegas. He also hopes that out-of-town visitors will use their gambling winnings to watch their home teams play.
Yeah. But Fisher, do you know something else? If you didn’t sell your players for nothing (Matt Chapman and Matt Olson), then you would’ve had people from the Bay Area coming to A’s games. After all, people who live in the Bay Area are the richest of the richest.
Fisher, Fisher, Fisher. Wanna know one more thing? Most Oakland Athletics fans who live in Sac Town won’t even be there for a game. Let me share my conversation with an Oakland Athletics fan in Northern California and one of my fellow friends, Jack Townsend.
Interview:
Smayan:
Jack. I have a simple statement for you. You answer. Alright?
The Oakland Athletics.
Jack:
Look Smayan. I’m a huge A’s fan. You know it. Remember the A’s and Dodgers series last year? You were yelling for LA. I was yelling for Oakland.
These last few years, I’ve been driving, driving, driving. Driving hella lot to the Coliseum to watch the A’s. It was always super fun. No cost other than the seat, the concessions, and very rarely the hotel room. Seats were affordable, concessions were concession prices, and even though for the last few years it’s been the same story at the end of the game, loss, it was always fun to go to the game and watch. Whether it be a blowout or a close one.
Smayan:
Jack. I was listening to my public sports radio the other day, and they were talking about the A’s. Sharing stories about going to games at the Coliseum and going to games at their home ballpark with the A’s visiting. It was so heartwarming. In fact, I was listening to that show the WHOLE 2 HOURS! Inside the car, with no A/C.
Do you like that the A’s are moving to Sacramento? It is super close to you.
Jack:
No. That’s the main reason why I’m not going to go to an A’s game at all.
I stand by all the people who say that they should stay in Oakland. As you said above, Fisher is money-hungry. He did step down from The Gap Store’s Board, so this is the way he makes money. He’s also taking a gamble from 46,675 seats to 14,000 seats. Dumb decision right there. Lastly, most of the A’s fanbase lives in Sacramento as the Bay Area supports the San Francisco Giants more. Just look at the channels. The A’s get NBC Sports California while the Giants get NBC Sports Bay Area…
I’m not going to spend money to support a tyrant and I am going to keep recommending people in my neighborhood to stop going to games. That’s not going to happen in 2025, as most Sacramentans will want to see a major league baseball game, live. Once that hype is over, the A’s fanbase should go back to being the A’s fanbase. Protest for them to go back to Oakland.
Before I go, I just wanted to tell all of you in the Sacramento area, to never go to an A’s game. Protest all you can. Send them back to Oakland. Get the tyrant to sell the team. Live happily ever after.
Smayan:
Some powerful words there my friend. Thanks for coming on.
Sell the Team!!!
If this whole Sacramento to Las Vegas plan doesn’t work out, and John Fisher wants to sell the team, who is he going to sell it to?
Vivek Ranadive.
This guy isn’t evil. But, he’s definitely not going to try to bring the franchise to Oakland. After all, he owns basically all sports teams in the Sacramento area, so he’s going to try to keep the A’s there. But, that’s better than Fisher, who just wants to make more money by relocating to the Vegas area. Everyone wants to make money, I’m not going to say no, but, especially with a sports team, fans make so many memories going to games, and watching games. People are so attached! They can’t live without sports! Like me! (Tell me in the comments if you can’t live without sports.)
No. Joe Lacob does not have any chance now (miracle), but what A’s fans need to wish for is that Las Vegas doesn’t steal another professional team away from California.
Will Oakland Head to Las Vegas?
Yes.

The demolition process has begun, so it’s too late for the A’s to not relocate to Las Vegas. I personally think that’s common sense, but many people still think that the A’s can not relocate to Las Vegas. So, keep your hopes alive. But, if you want to think common sense wise then… I’m deeply sorry.
But, please, take my advice. If you’re an A’s fan, or vacationing in the Bay Area during the summer, go to the Coliseum. Watch an A’s game. A random one. Take everything in. Take videos. Enjoy every moment there. 54 years. 54 years of glee and sorrow. It doesn’t matter if you like the A’s or not. You’ll have something to tell to your kids, future kids, or grandchildren.
Tribute to Oakland
I’m not a poet, but this is my attempt lol. If you like it, tell me in the comments and I’ll try to include more of these.
