Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day to all my Americans. Yes, it’s already that time of the year, and we’re halfway through 2025.
We’re taking a break from regular coverage today. This is really just an experiment.
When it comes to sports and Independence Day, it’s always baseball. America’s pastime. But that would pretty much turn off a lot of people, so instead of focusing on baseball only, I’ve decided to debate who America’s teams really are.
We’re going to start off with my picks, and then we’ll get to what everyone else thinks.
NBA
When we think about America’s team, it boils down to two things: dynasties and people hating on the team.
So, let’s see what Americans think about who America’s team really is in the NBA. I know that many don’t consider this kind of stuff in basketball, but it got some good responses across all social platforms. I believe that the Lakers are America’s team.
1. Lakers
2. Knicks
3. Warriors
4. Celtics
MLB
The MLB was very divided when we’re looking at this. Personally, my pick would be the Yankees. A dynasty is a dynasty, but if the Dodgers keep doing what they’re doing, I think they stand a close second. People are picking them right now.
1. Yankees
2. Dodgers
3. Savannah Bananas (this is all Reddit)
NFL
America’s Team has always been the Dallas Cowboys, but in my opinion, they don’t play like it. They just act like it. In my opinion, the title has to go to the Chiefs.
The NFL is the least answered one out of all, but here are the responses (from X):
1. Cowboys
2. Colts
3. Chiefs
And That’s It!
Let me know what you think. Who do you consider America’s team in each sport?
The responses From X seem awful. Colts arent relevant. Maybe late 2000s everyone wanted them to beat Patriots. Chiefs get the ratings. Cowboys do too but its hate watching; the ratings dont go down when theyre getting creamed in prime time as much as them being up by 21 points.
Steelers arent my team but they have a huge footprint of fans at their road games. NYG when they're good have some of that too. You can hear cheers when Giants score. But Not in Dallas or Philly, Giants TDs bring silence.
Pitt might be America's actual team though. You will hear noise when they score in most road games outside of Baltimore. Ohio especially rust belt felt Steel production kinship. Thousands of Buckeye fans are into Steelers instead of Browns and Bengals. Whose fans are only located in and around Cincy and Cleveland.
I feel the Lakers is just because of Lebron and Stephen A Smith covering them all the time honestly. Also I agree with the guy below, and Bananas are America's Team!
